Where It Started
Rockford Area Trade and Cheap Meets "R.A.T.C.M"
Samantha Swinbank created R.A.T.C.M. in May of 2014 as a stay at home mom as a way of supplying for her children and helping others trade or get clothing and shoes cheap. This idea came when an organization had something similar a few hours away. It was a brilliant idea and Samantha thought the Rockford area could really use this. The "meets" were held in her back porch, driveway, and garage. Soon it was all completely FREE!
In November of 2016 a friend approached Samantha's home church to see if the "meets" could be held there, as we were getting a lot of donations and members. This is where "A Mothers Love" was made to honor Samantha's mom who has always helped anyone she could and her dream of owning a resale shop.
We became an all-free non-profit that helps with anything we can, even if it’s just one thing! This was all started with a mother’s huge collection of things that was left after her passing, her caring side, and a similar vision she had for herself. We officially became “A Mothers Love" and continue to grow with the community’s support. Since being in our church we outgrew our space and could not meet needs efficiently. In order to meet needs at a faster pace and have more availability for people to come, we decided to go back to our roots a little. As of November 1st 2021, we were blessed with a building to hold events in. However, we are solely funded on volunteers and the community. Therefore, we are asking for monetary donations for *some* items in order to provide for the building and expenses. We hope to get sponsors to be all free again. This has allowed us to meet needs at a much faster rate, be more available to the community, have weekend free shops, still do our monthly collections, and allows us to do all of our wonderful yearly events. If anyone is interested in seeing what we have done in the past or in need please join www.facebook.com/groups/AMothersLove2016.
The motto soon became "To help one person if only with one thing!"
Our Mission
To help one person at a time even with just one thing! We believe in paying it forward and helping anyone in need. A Mothers Love does not have any restrictions to attend, we only ask that it is not sold for a profit after your use. We feel that even those who do not receive government assistance need help. It takes a village to be the blessing.
